What is the Internet?
Simply a collection of computer networks that are connected together
enabling instant communication.
It can be accessed by anyone with a suitable computer, an ISP (Internet Service Provider) and a telephone.
How
do I get a web site?
You need:
A Host for your web site. Can be free (but will include advertising) or paid for on a monthly basis.
Content! (the web pages.) Will usually include both text and
graphics.
And if you want to use your web site to best advantage, you need an ISP to connect your computer to the net and allow you to receive e-mail.
Can I build my own web site?
Yes.
You can do it with a specialist web-authoring package like Microsoft Front Page, or
Dreamweaver, or you can learn html coding and do it the hard way.
Or you can use Microsoft Word, or Powerpoint and save as web page
(be warned - this can create very large files that are slow to download
and don't always look as they should if viewed with non-Microsoft
browsers).
OR
- you can ask Equinenet to do it for you. Telephone 01299 841 338 or fill out our enquiry form here.
What
will it cost?
Like
anything else, it depends on what you want. But it could be a lot
less than you think. The basic costs are registering your Domain
name, Design and Hosting. With Equinenet, you can do it all for a
one-off payment of as little as £120 plus less than £10 per
month. Follow the links to your left or call us now.
