Search Engines and
Directories
Search engines:
there are thousands of search engines of varying
quality. We submit your site to the top 100, having ensured its
meta tags are properly designed to bring the traffic you want.
Priority Listings: some
search engines offer a higher place in their returns for selected
search terms - usually based on a few pence per 'click through'.
It can be effective, but it can also be an expensive way of building
the quantity of traffic (number of visitors) as compared to quality of traffic
(potential customers.) We can advise you of the best deals.
Directories:
again,
there are thousands. We submit to the top 20, but in fact only
Yahoo and the Open Directory Project (dmoz.org) are really
worthwhile. Both these directories are edited by real people and
sites must be submitted correctly or they won't be
listed. Up to 70% of your traffic will come from these two
directories.
Links:
links
from high-traffic sites that your potential customers visit are
another good way of building traffic. The number of sites that
link to you can also help your listings in the search engines.
We can promote links to your site, either on an exchange basis or by
setting up 'links to you' pages.
Keeping your site up-to-date and
regularly resubmitting your pages to the search engines (not the directories!)
is essential to keep your site high on the results for your special search
terms.
